10 Years @ Flybridge 🎊

Ten years ago, I joined Flybridge. It represents a quarter of my life, and it’s the longest I have ever worked in one place.

When I started in venture at 30, everyone told me it takes a decade to know if you're actually any good at this job. Ten years later, that timeline feels completely off. Nowadays, cycles are longer, exits take forever, and the old benchmarks no longer work. I still feel like I'm just getting started, with everything to prove.

The metrics in venture have become confusing. The industry values billion-dollar paper markups. But is a company with a massive markup and minimal revenue a better business than one generating billions in steady revenue without a recent funding round?

Venture is a strange, all-consuming business. The lines between work and life get blurred quickly. Everything I do in a given day impacts my family, friends, and partners. Looking back at a decade of performance, I care less about the valuations. I am most proud that our founders know they can turn to me for any problem, big or small, personal or professional.

Spending a quarter of my life with people I deeply respect is a rare thing in an industry where people constantly jump ship. I'm incredibly grateful to my partners, family, and our founders for letting me keep going.
