Flybridge's Latest Superpower – Dorothy Chang Joins the Team 🗽

I'm thrilled to announce that Dorothy Chang has joined Flybridge as a full time Venture Partner in New York City. I've known Dorothy for over a decade, watching her navigate an impressive journey from supporting communications for companies like Automattic, GroupMe, and Yext (two NYC darlings), to running communications at Foursquare and joining the executive team at Paxos, a $2.5B NYC blockchain company.

Dorothy later became President of Kode with Klossy, working with Karlie Kloss to teach coding to thousands of young women annually. More recently, she founded Lynx Collective, creating workshops and building community for NYC founders. Under her leadership, Lynx has hosted over 100 events and built a 5,000-strong founder community right in our backyard. This reminds of the early days of WeWork Labs (and WeWork After Dark — IYKYK).

When launching Next Wave NYC a year ago, Dorothy was my first call. Her deep connections to NYC's startups community, high EQ for the founder journey, and thoughtful decision-making around backing great founders, as an angel, made her an ideal partner. She became one of our most engaged Next Wave NYC partners, leading several investments including Dennis Crowley's latest startup.

Yesterday, we announced Dorothy's expanded role with Flybridge. She'll work across all our Next Wave funds, focusing on finding founders at the earliest stages building incredible companies in NYC and beyond. As she noted in her own newsletter, she loves early stage — seed, pre-seed, and even pre-pre-seed startups. At Flybridge, we back founders with big ideas in massive markets, particularly those centered on the future of AI. Dorothy's desire to lean in early, roll up her sleeves, and to win with the best founders here in New York City makes her the perfect addition to our team.

Dorothy has already been an incredible teammate in our NYC office, where we now have five full-time team members. We're excited to continue building our presence here while investing in the best AI-forward companies beyond Silicon Valley.
